Jira makes everything better
OpenMV recently obtained an open source license for the Jira issue tracker and all the bugs in mantis were transferred over with a built in importer. With Jira we get some neat new features such as good version tracking and linking issues to subversion commits. You can check it out at jira.openmv.org

New libsecondlife cubes
Below is an embedded SVG version of the cubes logo. If you can’t see it your browser sucks. View PNG version
The original cubes were somewhat skewed to one side and hard to edit because they were taken directly from a screenshot of 3 stacked cubed in Second Life.
The new cubes were created in Adobe Illustrator so they can be scaled to any size big or small with no real loss of quality. Vectors are wonderful things. Next step, T-shirts.
For those who have not seen the original cubes before, here they are

Crazy trip. So tired. Who was at the Open Source panel on Sunday? I want to find the audio.
Commentslibsecondlife - Past, Present, and Future
The libsecondlife SL4B event schedualed yesturday was pushed back to Sunday, June 24th because the sim was at capacity and almost nobody could get in to attend.
Commentslibsecondlife - Past, Present, and Future - June 24th, 1:30pm PST
This event is an open discussion about libsecondlife. It will start with a short introduction and background information and then everyone will be free to discuss any aspect of libsecondlife.
libsecondlife Developer Portal
Thanks to the efforts of Andrew Ortman we now have a new libsecondlife Developer Portal. The portal will be continuously updated with new content, as well as staying up to date with changes to libsecondlife itself. Feel free to add your own FAQs and make modifications to the entries, it is a wiki after all! If you are new to libsecondlife, and want to find a “Hello World” bot tutorial, or if you need help with chat, you can find all the details on how to do it on the new portal.

CommentsOpen Source at SL4B
The Second Life 4th Birthday event is coming up soon. The event is schedualed for June 23rd-June 30th. Check out the SL4B Portal on the Second Life wiki for more information on the planning of this event.
I’ve volunteered to take up the open source display at the event. The open source display will show how open source has influenced Second Life and how Second Life has influenced and inspired open source projects. So far the display will include libsecondlife, OpenSL [2], OpenSim, and other information about Linden Lab’s use of open source software(eg. Mono, Mozilla Gecko, Squid, Linux, MySQL)
Anyone interested in helping out with the open source display is encouraged to contact me at baba@libsecondlife.org or IM Baba Yamamoto in Second Life.
If you want to help out with other aspects of the SL4B Event contact SignpostMarv Martin in Second Life.
CommentsTrying out Trac
Trying out Trac for the first time this week on some new projects.
The trac website says,
Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects. Trac uses a minimalistic approach to web-based software project management. Our mission is to help developers write great software while staying out of the way. Trac should impose as little as possible on a team’s established development process and policies.
All that is very true. I commend the Trac team on their accomplishment. If only it were not coded in Python. EUGH whitespace syntax.
It’s all right. As long as I pretend it’s not there and it always works as expected it will never matter.
If all goes well with Trac maybe libsecondlife and Open Metaverse can start using it soon too. It looks to be more put together than our current mash.
